What Is the Golden Rule and Is It in the Bible?

What Is the Golden Rule and Is It in the Bible? I answered that question on this episode of Real Truth. Real Quick.

Show Notes:

Principles:

  1. Jesus doesn’t call us to limit our response, He calls us to love with our response.
  2. It is not enough to avoid evil, Jesus commands us to do good
  3. The Golden Rule is a call to action.
  4. We are compelled by Scripture to love our enemies. Love is always active.
  5. If you’re not living out the Golden Rule, that may be the reason your evangelism isn’t very effective.

Scripture:

“In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’” Matthew 5:38

“But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.” Matthew 5:39

“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great…” Luke 6:35

“… and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.” Luke 6:35
